František Janák´s Workshop at the West Texas A&M University, USA.

Acad. Painter Mr. František Janák, the deputy headmaster of the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov was invited by the West Texas A&M university, Canyon, USA, to make a workshop from Apr. 13 – 26, 2011. WTAMU is a longtime partner of our school and its students visited Kamenický Šenov already twice within their training stay. More here. The head of the glass department at the WTAMU Professor Chad Holliday is a František Janák´s graduate from the RIT, Rochester. As a Fullbright Fund scholar, Mr. Chad Holliday also studied at the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov in the period 2007-2008. More here.

On the occasion of his working stay in the USA František Janák was also invited by the glass studio SiNaCa, Dallas, to make a day demonstration and promotion together with Chad Holliday and a group of their glassmakers in the hotshop for the public. Among others, František Janák showed manufacturing of plaster and metal blowing moulds at WTAMU. He participated also into training and helped the American students to produce models and to manufacture glass melting moulds. František Janák gave a lecture both on his work and the glass school in Kamenický Šenov for the WTAMU teachers and students. The stay included learning the history and traditions of Texas as well as visiting natural beauties of Sunday and the Palo Duro canyon situated near Canyon, a little town housing WTAMU. There, František Janák also agreed further collaboration between WTAMU and SUPŠS for the coming years.
