American artist Chad Holliday

Since the beginning of September an American artist Chad Holliday has been spending his residency in our school. Chad came to Kamenický Šenov thanks to the prestigeous Fulbright scholarship. At our school Chad would study the concept of education especially in the branch of cut glass for 9 months. He is also interested in the complete conception of education at Czech glass schools. His studies should result in a programme helping the American schools in setting up of conceptual curriculum of the glass art education having been missed there. Chad is graduated from the prestigeous university Rochester Institute of Technology where he was also a pupil of František Janák in his last year of studies. Thanks to the encountering he begun to be intensively interested both in the glass cutting technique and in the Czech glass education generally. In 2001 he was graduated as MFA in the glass branch at the RIT. Since he has worked in several places e.g. at Taiwan, in the Glass Museum Tacoma and at the Pratt Institute Seattle.

Chad arrived with his family. With his wife Chloe who is also graduated from the RIT where she studied at the ceramics department and with his two years old son Thomas. We wish them a pleasant stay and successful studies for Chad! Details you can find at the Chad´s blog: http://chadhollidayfulbright.blogspot.com
